Aitken Partners was founded as Aitken Walker & Strachan in 1923 by Phillip Aitken, Harold Walker and Ford Strachan. Phillip Aitken was the father of later partners Bob and Phillip Aitken, uncle of Ford Strachan and grand father of Robert Davey so the firm has continuing strong family connections.
The firm has grown and merged with other firms including Rank & Robinson, Leach & Thompson, Melville & Melville, Hume Lawyers, BJT (Melbourne), John Matthies & Co and DSC Lawyers.
The ethos of the firm is reflected in its heritage and Aitken Partners remains committed to its private clients as well as its corporate clients. We have a significant number of rural clients, many who have been clients of the firm since it was founded. We are justifiably proud of the firm's history and will continue to build on it.
In 2003 Aitken Partners joined MSI Global Alliance to cater for the international needs of our clients allowing them access to legal and accounting advice worldwide in over 100 countries. The 13 Australian and New Zealand members also meet regularly.
Guiding principles of integrity, respect and professionalism are as important to the firm today as they were 90 years ago, and have underpinned the growth of our firm now comprising more than 75 dedicated professional and support staff.
