Katherine Wangmann joined Aitken Partners in October 2015, where she works in the practice areas of Commercial Litigation, Insolvency and IP disputes.

She is a friendly and outgoing lawyer who enjoys appearing in Court and getting great results for clients.

Katherine completed her Bachelor of Arts/Laws (First Class Honours) at the University of Melbourne in 2011. She is admitted to practice in the Supreme Court of Victoria, the Federal Court of Australia and the High Court of Australia.

Katherine is currently completing her Master of Commercial Law at the University of Melbourne. Her article titled ‘The Free Assets of the Company and When They Are Free to Take: Equitable Subrogation and the Secured Creditor’ was published in the volume 39(1) of the Melbourne University Law Review.

Katherine is also a registered trade marks attorney and a member of IWIRC and IPSANZ.

Katherine’s experience includes:

  • conducting a range of commercial matters in the Magistrates’ Court, Supreme Court and the Federal Court and appearing in Court.
  • advising clients in relation to corporations law and breaches of directors’ duties.
  • acting on behalf of insolvency practitioners in relation to unfair preference claims, the distribution of preference recovery funds and secured creditor entitlements.
  • advising clients in relation to personal property security interests, retention of title clauses and vesting under the PPSA.
  • advising clients in relation to intellectual property infringement risk.
  • acting on behalf of brand owners to protect their intellectual property against infringing parties.
