Lizia Lim is a Senior Associate in Aitken Partners' Succession and Elder Law team . She is an Accredited Specialist in Wills & Estates and has been a practicing solicitor for more than a decade.

Lizia is a full member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP) which is the international professional body for advisers who specialise in inheritance and succession planning. She is also a recommended lawyer in Doyle’s Guide.

She has had articles on Wills & Estates topics published in the Law Institute Journal, and has also presented seminars to other lawyers for the Television Education Network.  

Lizia is a supporter of cultural diversity in the legal profession and is a member of the Asian Australian Lawyers Association, being of a Malaysian background.

Lizia is familiar with succession laws in Victoria as well as interstate, and has experience in running estate litigation proceedings in the Supreme Courts of Victoria, New South Wales, Queensland and Western Australia.

Lizia practices exclusively in the field of Succession and Elder Law, but has prior experience in both family law and commercial law.

    • Part IV applications for provision/further provision from estates
    • Challenges to Will validity, including lack of testamentary capacity and undue influence
    • Applications to remove executors
    • Applications under s 15 to force executors to prove Will or renounce Probate
    • Executors in dispute with co-executors
    • Claims for superannuation death benefits
    • Applications for executor's commission
    • Recovery of money misappropriated from an estate
    • Disputes over inter vivos transfers
    • Claims for breach of trust
  • Estate Planning
    • Drafting Wills and Enduring Powers of Attorney (Financial, Medical and Personal)
    • Providing estate planning solutions, including in large complex estates
    • Advising in respect of difficult family situations, including blended families, second marriages, disabled beneficiaries and estranged relatives
    • Minimising risk of claims against the estate
  • Probate and Estate Administration
    • Acting for executors/administrators in applying for Grants of Representation, including complex applications proving informal Wills/unsigned Wills/missing Wills/copy Wills
    • Obtaining reseals of foreign Grants
    • Attending to all aspects of estate administration, including collecting, realising and distributing estate assets, and advice regarding executor’s duties/obligations
    • Preparing Deeds of Family Arrangement to vary distribution of the estate by consent
    • Advice in relation to life interests and settled land
    • Acting in relation to insolvent estates
  • VCAT Guardianship
    • Regularly appearing in VCAT in relation to disputes regarding the financial and personal affairs of a living person who has lost capacity, such as disputes over powers of attorney, financial administration and accommodation/care of the person.
