The power of community action groups
A continuously evolving trend in and around Compulsory Acquisition is the emergence of community action groups. Aitken Partners is now involved with several groups joining unChain St Kilda on the firm's client list.
According to Jan Beer from Plug The Pipe (which opposes the North-South Pipeline, http://www.plugthepipe.com/) strength is gained in numbers. And if the fight to oppose a development is lost, the battle for adequate compensation is improved in favour of the land holder by collective actions.
With the State Government planning a massive infrastructure spend in the next three years, Aitken Partners believes it is important that land holders seek advice on contemplated compulsory acquisitions from lawyers and property valuers skilled in the area.
Aitken Partners represents many land holders in compulsory acquisitions claims.
