Aitken Partners are looking for a dedicated senior lawyer to join our growing firm and play a significant role within the compulsory acquisition team.

If you’re passionate about property, planning and litigation – and want to help landowners navigate complex acquisition matters – this is a rare opportunity to step into a leading role in a respected, full-service firm.

We are looking for someone with passion to grow this practice and lead the team, an existing referral network is not mandatory but will be highly regarded.

In addition to your technical legal skills, you should have the following attributes:

  • Strong client engagement and networking skills.
  • Ability to run your own files and work autonomously.
  • Good interpersonal skills.
  • Has excellent attention to detail and time management skills.
  • Enjoys collaborating and mentoring in a supportive team environment.

The role

As a senior lawyer in our compulsory acquisition team, you will be working on a broad variety of property dispute related matters and providing advice to landowners in a commercially sensitive manner. The role enables you to enjoy the benefits of working with our existing clients and be supported as you develop your reputation in this field.

You should have had some experience preparing claims governed by the Land Acquisition and Compensation Act 1986 (Vic) and the Planning and Environment Act 1987 (Vic).

At Aitken Partners you’ll find:

  • A respected firm with over 100 years of history and a vibrant, modern culture.
  • Flexible hybrid working and achievable billing targets.
  • A supportive team that values balance, growth and collaboration.
  • An attractive remuneration package.
