Mike is a Principal at Aitken Partners in our Insolvency and Litigation Law teams. Mike acts for a wide range of clients, including public and private corporate entities, aged care providers, professional services providers, private clients and recently a protected person under instructions from a statutory body.
His practice includes commercial litigation and general commercial work. Acting as the principal lawyer with carriage of matters, while supervising the team, his litigation experience includes both large-scale disputes and simple recovery matters.
Experience
- Advising on a large-scale Federal Court dispute on behalf of a professional services client that involved allegations of improperly obtained property. This included undertaking pubic examinations, conducting proceedings and enforcing Court Orders by causing the issue of arrest warrants.
- Taking instructions from a statutory body on behalf of a protected person. The protected person, whose affairs were previously managed by a family member, commenced proceedings against that family member alleging improper use of the protected person’s money. A judgment has been obtained and we are presently taking steps to enforce that judgment.
- Acting on behalf of multiple aged care providers in respect of the recovery of unpaid fees, which often involves liaising with residents personally and/or their families directly.
