Increase in ambulance call-outs fuels fresh family violence concerns

Family Law: 03 December 2020

The incidents of family violence and violence related injuries has continued to rise as a result of the pandemic despite the relaxation of restrictions.

Recent data released by the Crime Statistic Agency reveals that there has been a significant increase in family violence related ambulance attendances compared to the same time last year.

In addition, Victorian public hospital emergency departments also recorded an increase in the number attended because of family violence related incidents.

People are finding ways to use the pandemic to justify abusive and controlling behavior. If you are being abused or being controlled by your partner, or being subjected to any form of family violence, and are in immediate risk, call the police on 000.
