Commercial Tenancy: 24 March 2020
The Morrison Government has announced that it is working on identifying how relief can be provided for tenants in both commercial and residential tenancies, to ensure that in hardship conditions there will be relief available during the COVID-19 (also known Coronavirus) pandemic. While acknowledging that the current leasing climate will also impact landlords there has been no indication as to whether landlord's will be compensated for loss of tenants or rent.
We are currently in a 'wait and see' situation until we are provided with further details. The National Cabinet will meet today to discuss further arrangements for commercial and residential tenancies.
